Moray Watson attended Edinburgh College of Art in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he focused on design, painting, illustration and photography. He has successfully had gallery exhibits within the UK. Moray’s art merges both classical and modern by merging his unique interpretation with original techniques (predominantly self taught), incorporating experimentation and personal expressiveness. His acrylic paintings are a combination of textured effects, color systems, washes, frescos and relief lines which are displayed in a passionate, emotion-fueled and yet delicate way, full of movement inspired by the subject matter. His works are both atmospheric and expressive, exploring the effects of light and colour. Moray’s main inspirations come from his love of seascapes and sailing, which influence the structure and the emotional effect of his work. Although his main focus has not always been Fine Art, he has enjoyed a variety of colorful working environments from owning his own framing business and gallery to becoming a certified Yoga instructor. This in turn has helped him avoid the conventions of fine art education. After moving to the United States he has further developed his painting style and taken his creative adventure in a new direction incorporating inks and glue, taking his existing style further. While trying to encompass the viewer in his recent works he attempts to maintain an individual almost spiritual experience throughout.
